Received an Echo dot as a gift. I can't download the app to my phone due to other apps, pictures, etc that take up a lot of room. I do need and use those daily, so they're here to stay. Even if I could, I don't know if I feel comfortable with all my phone info hooked up to Alexa. That's just me though. I have a kindle fire and figured that would work better for my needs anyhow.
The app is offered for download but will not work on the kindle! I tried setting it up and kept trying to figure out how to work it. Uninstalled and reinstalled Amazon, please, update your Alexa app for the kindle!!!
If you refuse, state that it isn't compatible from the get go. Is there a different Alexa app that works with the kindle? If so I'd greatly appreciate the info! If not, I really don't see a reason why you can't figure this out. For now, my brand new Echo dot sadly seems destined to be useless. Download the amazon alexa app I got my Amazon dot,I received an email on kindle fire to set up my dot. I opened it while near my Echo Show with the microphone off. I had many problems trying to get the app to recognize me, so I went on my Chrome laptop.
I had the same problems. At one point I had to enter my cell phone number. Then my cell phone rang and a man with an accent said he would help me with connecting my Dot.
I was told to go to the app store on my kindle fire and find the Alexa app. Nothing seemed to be happening, so I told him I was hanging up, and I did. While I was sitting there I saw a blue circle on my Dot, so I asked Alexa for the weather, and she told me. I took the Dot to the kitchen away from the Echo Show, and plugged it in,and asked it a question,and it answered. I had it play Pandora which it did. While it was playing I went to the Show and asked for for the weather,and the Show told me while was playing on the Dot.
One person found this helpful, download the amazon alexa app. Received my echo 3rd Gen unit over the holidays due to an ongoing promotion. It has great sound over the Dot version hands down - good base and highs. It takes a bit of investment of your time to learn all the nuances of what Alexa can do for you. You have to dig around through e-books, YouTube, etc. For example, my unit began to display a pulsating yellow light that became annoying at night in my bedroom.
